PACM
Assessment
The LCME PACM syllabus is
designed for candidates who wish to play pieces and who, for various
reasons, do not wish to prepare for the additional components of
a main graded syllabus. It does, however, provide a good indication
of the level of achievement gained, as well as being a useful yardstick
of progress and a goal towards which to work.
Syllabus
| 1. |
LCME Performance Awards
in Chinese Music focus on a performance given by an
individual or group. Although qualities like technique
and musicality are important, candidates are assessed
on their:
| • |
Responsiveness to the audience and to performance
requirements; |
| • |
Confidence & Control; |
| • |
Flair & Determination; |
| • |
Artistry & Creativity. |
|
| 2. |
LCME Performance Awards
in Chinese Music are available from grades 1 - 8. All
the awards are made by University of West London. |
| 3. |
There is no fixed repertoire
for the PACM awards. However, candidates can use the
Chinese Music Handbooks of Shanghai Music Conservatory
& of Beijing Conservatory as a guide to relative
standards. The grades used match the levels of the LCME
Performance Awards. Candidates are also free to choose
their own repertoire, and are responsible for ensuring
it is at the level of difficulty for the chosen grade.
